Flights to Oceania

There are no direct flights from the UK to any Oceania destination — all require at least one stopover. Popular stopover hubs include Singapore (for Australia/NZ via Qantas/SIA), Dubai (for Australia/NZ via Emirates), Doha (Qatar Airways), and Los Angeles (for French Polynesia via Air Tahiti Nui). Stopovers often add little to no extra cost.

Australia and New Zealand's summer (Dec–Feb) is peak season with highest prices. For the best fares, fly in their winter (Jun–Aug) — still pleasant in northern Australia and great for skiing in NZ. Pacific islands have two seasons: dry (May–Oct, ideal) and wet (Nov–Apr, cheaper but humid). Book 3–4 months ahead for long-haul routes.

Oceania is 8–13 hours ahead of the UK depending on destination and daylight saving. Eastbound flights depart evening and arrive 1–2 days later. We recommend booking flights that arrive in the evening local time so you can sleep upon arrival. Most airlines offer "economy comfort" seating with extra legroom for these ultra-long routes — we can advise on upgrades.

The trans-Tasman flight between Australia and NZ is only 3–3.5 hours. This often works out cheaper than two separate return tickets, and we can bundle in domestic flights within each country.
